The monkey and the master
Isaraok x Denez, 2021
This is a true story.

My great-uncle had a friend who lived in Paris, in a beautiful building, with …
… a monkey.

A little monkey.
One day, the master decides to decorate his living-room with beautiful paintings.

So he drives in nails with a hammer where he wanted to place his paintings.
Then, before hanging them, he goes out to buy his newspaper and offer himself a cup of coffee.

Once back home, he cannot open the door of the living-room.

Through the keyhole, the master spots his little monkey looking odd. What happened ?
When his master was out, the monkey took a nail, the hammer.
Like his master, he knocked in the nail,

a second one, a third one …
He knocked nails into the walls,
and into the door.Impossible to open it !

What can be said about this story ?What’s the difference between the little monkey and his master ?
Like his master, the monkey was able to drive in nails.

And maybe he was more skillful or more rapid.
But the master used his tools with discernment,
to serve his purposes, in this story, beautifying his living-room.

No such purpose for the monkey,

as if using the toolwas an end in itself.
In this case, better be unable to handle the tools.

If the monkey had been a cat,all this damage wouln’t have happened.

The worst is the monkey’s tendency, once the tools mastered,

to use them as long as no material limit stops it.
Any resemblance to reality is pure chance
even when « hammer » is replaced by "numeric tool" … or any other technique.

Now it’s time to turn off your screen and go outdoors ask yourself:

are you monkey

or master ?
The sounds you may have imagined, can be heard in the video (youtube, 3mn28)
