A good way to recycle old candles !
5 mn per candle,
with old candles or bee wax, soft rush,
a water bath, and a knife.
How to make these mini candles ?
Prepare the wick with a sofh rush shoot: remove the green fibers from one side with a knife (photo); remove the green fibers on the opposite side. You’re left with two lengths of green fibers maintaining the white marrow. Let it dry.
Put the wick in a walnut shell filled with wax melt in a water bath, and cut the wick once the wax becomes solid.
The wax is indeed absorbed by the wick.
Place the candle on water, so that the wax stays solid and keeps the wick standing. Of course a few candles can be floated !
Advantages
- A good way to recycle old candles.
- No more aluminium of tea light candles
- No more imported cotton wicks
Limits
- Necessity of floating the candle, otherwise the wick flips if all the wax melts
- The candle tends to flip if it’s neither floated nor fixed
